President's Report
Herndon-Reston FISH has a home at last.
We will locate our office at 336 Victory Drive in Herndon, VA, where FISH operates a thrift shop, The Bargain Loft. It has long been our legal address, but now FISH will have space for an office on the second floor loft area.
Our Board of Directors has approved use of the second floor as a temporary office space. At the same time, the Board authorized a study of the feasibility and expense of extending the upstairs area to provide more space for the FISH office and for the Bargain Loft sales area.
We now have a central place where we can gather together and secure all the FISH papers, archives, contracts, etc., that have been scattered among the homes of officers and volunteers throughout Reston, Herndon, Vienna, and Great Falls.
Having our physical office at our legal address brings us into compliance with our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.
Sometimes the smallest task can be the giant step that brings an organization into the 21st Century. I imagine it as similar to the transition from black and white television (for those of us who remember B&W TVs) to color television; a little step brought giant progress for home entertainment.
A FISH office also provides our Board members their own space and a place to meet donors, community workers, government officials, and others.
