Successful "Stuff the Bus" Food Collection

Herndon-Reston FISH was invited by Fairfax County to participate in the "Stuff the Bus" event at the North County Government Center in Reston on October 9. We collected 863 pounds of groceries! (a good result, especially for a holiday weekend with many other activities happening around the community.)

The need for food is real: about 87,000 people in Fairfax County are experiencing food insecurity! Food items donated help with the FISH Holiday Food program and the excess will support the St. Anne's Episcopal Church Food Pantry.

Thank you to the County for selecting us, to Supervisor Walt Alcorn for hosting us, to volunteers who spent their time helping, and to all those who provided groceries.

About "Stuff the Bus": The event began in 2011 in response to a critical need to help restock the shelves of local food pantries after the holidays. This collaborative program is a partnership between Fairfax County Government and local nonprofits. Now in its 10th year, Stuff the Bus continues to support food assistance efforts for families and households. Since inception, Stuff the Bus has collected over 220 tons of food to feed hungry people in Fairfax County. Each County Supervisor will have one or two Stuff the Bus events in their district on this day.

HRFISH Has Its Own Tea Blend for Sale: "Hooked on FISH"

We are honored Elden Street Tea Shop has selected HRFISH as one of the nonprofits to be part of its InclusiviTEA program. The InclusiviTEA mission is to promote “Diversity, Acceptance, Community.”

Our tea blend is called “Hooked on FISH" (Friendly, Instant, Sympathetic Help).

The blend is green tea, goji berries, a hint of marigolds (for color), and a splattering of FISH sprinkles (for their cheeriness, brightness and optimism, plus they’re FISH!). The blend will not only soothe the stress of the holiday season, it will also complement savory offerings (like cheeses) and sweet delicacies alike.

For each tin of “Hooked on F.I.S.H.” sold, ESTS will donate 20% to FISH!! Bask in the knowledge that each delicious sip supports your community!

ORDER A REFILL: “Hooked on FISH” refills may be ordered

Brewed all your tea but still hooked on December's "Hooked on FISH"? You can order more! FISH still gets paid 20% of the revenue of each refill, so you can keep supporting your favorite charity by drinking your favorite tea. Click here to ORDER "HOOKED ON FISH"
