The FISH Fling

It is an annual FISH tradition to hold a gala event called the FISH Fling. It is a time to celebrate the work of the organization and to raise funds to support our activities. Our tradition has been to have a dinner with entertainment and dancing while everyone participates in the silent auction. Last year, because of the pandemic, we did not hold the Fling. This year, despite the pandemic, we decided to continue the celebration but to do so online, including an online auction.

The event, held on May 11, 2022, was a great success, with more than 70 people participating by either watching the online event or bidding on auction items. Video choral entertainment was provided by children from Reston and Herndon elementary, middle, and high schools. Words of encouragement and congratulation were offered by area political representatives, and we recognized four people who have made outstanding contributions to FISH over the years. This year the StarFISH honorees are Bob Reed (Board President), Clara Chambliss (Emergency Assistance), Nancy McCormick (Bargain Loft), and M&T Bank (Business partner). You can read more about their contributions by clicking HERE.

We came close to, but did not quite reach, our goal of raising $25,000. (It's not too late to donate.)

All in all, the Fling was a great success. We thank all of the people and organizations that donated items for the silent auction, as well as those who planned and carried out the event
